Hinduism and Buddhism belong to the dharmic Indian religions. Despite the significant differences between Buddhism and Hinduism, there are similarities between them, both in conceptual ideas and in particulars. While Buddhism, as a rule, defends the idea of the complete independence of Buddhism, a number of scholars, primarily Indian ones, regard it as a particular deviation in the history of Hinduism.
